Wir werden eine politische Gemeinschaft
mit solidarischer Landwirtschaft im Wendland.

We Are Currently…

… a group of 5-8 more or less grown up persons. We live in different cities right now and are planning to collectively buy a farm from the 1930’s with 1 hectare farmyard and 3 hectares of land in Volzendorf, a small village in northern Germany’s Wendland region. The expected costs amount to approximately 240000 Euros.

The farm provides currently enough living space for 10-12 people but has big potentials for further expansion. Some would like to build up a gardener collective, others are teachers in the vicinity, all would like to be on the farm, individually, creative, collective.

By the way, sustainable consumption, political morale and tender cooperation is our code of conduct.

The Place And Its Surroundings

Volzendorf is located in the south-eastern part of the Wendland region in northern Germany, close to the Green Belt, a natural reserve along the former East-West border zone, nowadays a habitat for plants and animals.

Around 70 people are living in the village. An existing political commune is part of it as well. The Commune Volzendorf has been established some years ago right in the vicinity of the farm. It is cooperating with a Nomadic Collective that aims to build up a permanent spot there.

In a region without larger urban agglomerations, political and cultural life is expressed through the Interkomm, a network of local political communes, or through many projects of the decades long anti-nuclear Castor resistance, or through happenings like the Kulturelle Landpartie.

The next long distance train station is located in the small city of Salzwedel and can be easily reached by bike. From there you go to Berlin and Hamburg within 90 minutes.

The Plan

We get our hands on the farm in the vicinity of the Commune and on additional 3 hectares of land. We will then be a housing and farm project with common economy and community supported agriculture, with fruit growing, bees, hacklab, bakery, events and a lot of space for more to come. Our aim is to establish a collaborative biotope, based on not less than solidarity, ecology and learning.

We would like to follow up and consolidate the perspectives that have already been developed with the Commune and the Nomadic Collective. Due to the immediate vicinity to the Commune, we would aim to connect both farmyards and all functional buildings for proactive usage.

We would like to establish contacts on the spot, and besides that, our central perspective is directed towards collaboration with political initiatives in the region and beyond.

Since we all have gained our experiences on various matters, it is important to mention that the idea of D.I.Y. (with style) is an integral part of our understanding. We would like to carry on to cooperate as free amateurs.

We do not see ourselves merely as an individual project but also as part of a global movement that takes life back into our own hands, self-determined, that shares and broadens its experiences, skills and structures: asking we walk.

We would like to leave pre-configured positions and scrutinize privileges. We would rather like to facilitate things than to block them and us. We aim for the reduction of monetary inequalities by means of a common and solidarity-based economy.

Anything else? We would like to carry out collective decisions, listen in dispute, become more audacious and confident, open free spaces, establish refuges, create diverse webs of relatedness, live openness, see land and nature grow, move forward in action, collaboration, association and breakdown.

Solidarity Based Economy

A gardener collective will cultivate 3 hectares of land. Our attention will be focused on the interaction with horses and the constitution of humus-rich and fertile soil. We foster open pollinating and locally adapted varieties, blossomy green manure and biodiversity. Our economy shall be based on a larger supportive community that we supply with vegetables. As soon as we are established, we would like to support apprentices of the Free Apprenticeship to learn here. Besides that, a bakery collective would like to bake tasty bread in the available wood ovens.

To Become More

The farm is in top condition and we can move in immediately after buying. That’s nice. But its a pity, though, that accomplices are not beating their path to our door. Thus, get in touch with us!

Financial Support

We are looking for people that are willing to support us with private loans in order to buy the farm and land and to establish community supported agriculture. We do not have a legal frame yet but for the time being, we would be glad to receive declarations of intent. More information are contained in the enclosed declaration.
